Physiotherapist Position (Employee)
Mentorship, Support & Vancouver Island Lifestyle
Campbell River, British Columbia, Canada

Why Join Us

Start with a stable income, an established caseload, and the time to do your work properly.
Physio on the Run is hiring a clinic-based orthopedic and musculoskeletal physiotherapist in Campbell River, British Columbia.
This is an employee position within a structured private practice setting on Vancouver Island. It is not an independent contractor role.

This role is well suited to:
  • early-career physiotherapists looking for a supported transition into private practice
  • physiotherapists relocating to Vancouver Island
  • clinicians looking for a sustainable pace and strong mentorship
  • clinicians who want to improve the quality of their work over time

You are not expected to know everything on day one.

You will step into a supported clinic role with mentorship built into the week, regular case discussion, and a gradual ramp-up of responsibility and caseload.

Working as a Physiotherapist in Canada

This is a physiotherapist job in Canada within a private practice setting in British Columbia.

Physiotherapists in Canada practice under a direct access model. In British Columbia, physiotherapists register with the College of Health and Care Professionals of British Columbia.

Internationally trained applicants typically complete credentialing through the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators prior to registration.
We are happy to speak with candidates who are in various stages of this process.
Where appropriate, we can provide formal employment offers to support immigration or work permit applications.

About Physio on the Run

Physio on the Run is an independent, multi-site physiotherapy and rehabilitation practice based in Campbell River and serving communities across Vancouver Island.

Our team includes clinicians who work in:

  • clinic physiotherapy
  • home visits
  • long-term care
  • occupational therapy
  • kinesiology and rehabilitation support
  • acupuncture

Not everyone does everything.

We intentionally design clear roles so clinicians can focus, develop depth, and sustain their work over time.

The common thread across the practice is how care is delivered: evidence-informed, realistic, and designed for real life — for clients and clinicians.

Our purpose is Redefining Care.
That shows up in pacing, systems, expectations, evidence-based approach, and how we support people through growth.

This video offers a look at how our practice is designed and supported.
While Physio on the Run works across multiple settings, this job posting is for a clinic-based role only.

This Specific Role

We are currently hiring for an employee physiotherapist role with a strong adult orthopedic and musculoskeletal focus.

Most clinicians begin with a primarily clinic-based caseload to build confidence, consistency, mentorship, and flow within the team. Over time, many choose to gradually incorporate other areas of practice such as home visits, community-based care, or long-term care work depending on comfort, strengths, and interest.

You are not expected to do everything immediately, and no one clinician carries every area of the practice.

This role is a good fit for someone who:
  • wants a supported transition into private practice
  • values mentorship and collaborative problem-solving
  • enjoys working with adult orthopedic and functional rehabilitation populations
  • is open to some flexibility and variety in how care is delivered over time
  • wants work that holds up in the real world, not just inside a treatment room

The role is designed to grow progressively rather than overwhelm people early.

Caseload and Pace

There is an established private-pay caseload ready for this role.

Work is available immediately.

Caseload increases gradually and intentionally, based on your comfort, readiness, and clinical confidence. Until you are ready, care volume is held by existing clinicians rather than pushed onto a new hire.

Our priority is good care and a sustainable transition, not filling hours as quickly as possible.

How We Practice

Our clinical approach is shared across the team and consistent in daily care:

  • Evidence-based assessment and treatment
  • Low, intentional use of modalities, only when indicated
  • Thoughtful hands-on care used to support education, exercise, and behaviour change
  • Time built in for clinical reasoning and follow-through
  • IMS, dry needling, and acupuncture are welcome skills when used selectively and purposefully.

We also use technology intentionally to reduce administrative burden. Charting is designed to be completed during work hours, not taken home at night.

Mentorship, Caseload, and Support

You will not be thrown into a full schedule immediately.

This role is designed to support a gradual transition into private practice, with mentorship and workload progression built into the structure of the workweek.

There is an established caseload ready for this role. You are not expected to build your own caseload from scratch.

Your first weeks typically include:
  • a smaller supported caseload initially
  • regular mentorship and case discussion
  • time to think and process clinical work
  • clear scope and expectations
  • schedule growth based on confidence and readiness
  • feedback focused on building confidence and clinical judgment

Our priority is good care and a sustainable workload, not maximizing volume.

Work is structured to allow time for:
  • assessment and clinical reasoning
  • follow-through
  • documentation within the workday
  • collaboration and mentorship

No evenings or weekends are expected.

You are treated as a professional who is continuing to develop — not someone expected to know everything on day one.

Schedule, Compensation, and Benefits

Compensation includes:

  • Base salary plus billable completion compensation
  • Starting physiotherapist salary is approximately $95,000 annually during a supported ramp-up period.
  • Once established, full-time clinicians typically earn between $105,000 and $130,000 at a reasonable clinical pace.

The role is designed to run during standard business hours.
No weekends are expected.

Benefits include:

  • Paid vacation
  • Paid sick time
  • Paid statutory holidays
  • Health and education spending account
  • Professional development support
  • Full administrative support

We recognize the financial pressure many new grads carry after seven years of training.

Compensation and support are structured to reduce pressure, not add to it.

Schedule:
  • 3-5 days per week, Monday to Friday
  • no evenings or weekends required
  • consistent schedule around your preference once established

Team and Culture

We work as a collaborative, non-competitive team.

Clinicians support one another, communicate directly, and share responsibility for care. Systems are designed so no one has to hold everything alone.

If something feels consistently heavy or unclear, it is treated as a system issue to address — not a personal shortcoming.

Living in Campbell River

Campbell River is a coastal community of approximately 40,000 people located midway up the east coast of Vancouver Island.

Surrounded by ocean, forest, and mountains, it offers immediate access to nature, short commutes, and a pace of life shaped by the outdoors and the seasons. Mountain biking, trail running, fishing, paddling, golf, and skiing at Mount Washington are all part of everyday life here. Daily routines feel manageable and leave room for recovery.

Housing remains more attainable than in many larger urban centres. Condos often fall in the $450,000–$500,000 range, with many single-family homes between $650,000 and $750,000. Healthcare, public services, trades, tourism, and retail all support local employment, which can make partner transitions more realistic.

For physiotherapists considering relocating to British Columbia from elsewhere in Canada or internationally, we are open to early conversations about what practicing here involves.
